Cameron’s approach when meeting and treating new clients is simple: “you are not alone.” She always starts there and invites anyone struggling with life’s challenges to come and allow her to hold space for reflection on how and why, but most importantly, what now? Above all, she wants to walk alongside her clients to help them find their true selves and find meaning in whatever they do and whoever they intend to be.
Born and raised in College Station, Cameron has deep roots in the community as both her parents were Texas A&M professors. She was fortunate enough to travel and live abroad several times during her life, allowing her to build a more global life experience. She received her bachelor’s degree in French at the University of Texas at Austin in 1996. Afterwards, she focused on being a stay-at-home mom for several years.
In 2005, Cameron had an opportunity to go back to school and get a master’s degree in Counseling and Human Development from Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, TX. She has been back in Aggieland since 2009 as a Licensed Professional Counselor in victim services, acute psychiatric care, private practice, and now proudly with Promises Behavioral Health.
Cameron enjoys delving into troubling circumstance and issues with her clients. She supports clients as they begin to understand the past in order to change the present and improve the future. She matches the pace of each client with the aim is to help clients move beyond feeling stuck and opens their eyes to themselves and the world in a brighter light. She uses cognitive-behavioral techniques, alongside skills building and mindfulness. Cameron also enjoys experimenting with exposure therapy for clients who struggle with debilitating anxiety
