What is an alumni program?
Our alumni program is a key aftercare option at this recovery center. The Rooted alumni program connects people who completed treatment for substance abuse or mental health needs at Promises Brazos Valley. Whether you completed treatment months or years ago, you will find peers and mentors who share your focus on sobriety and long term success.
An alumni program typically includes social gatherings, ongoing support from coordinators, and easy access to resources that aid recovery.
Benefits of an alumni program
Connecting with people who have walked through addiction and recovery offers practical support and encouragement. You can learn coping skills for triggers, practice communication, and build lasting relationships with peers committed to a sober lifestyle. Alumni programs also help you track progress and set recovery goals you can revisit over time.
Relapse prevention skills you can practice with former clients and peers include:
- Managing stress and anxiety without alcohol or drugs
- Using cognitive and behavioral tools to notice thoughts, feelings, and patterns
- Building healthy connection with family, work, and community
- Problem solving when daily challenges arise
During an alumni program, you can practice these skills with other people in a safe, stress-free environment. As a result, you can strengthen and maintain your recovery, which allows you to manage any challenges or triggers that you encounter in your day-to-day life.
What to expect in the Rooted rehab alumni program
Every alumni program has unique attributes. One thing that remains the same is that you can connect with the people around you. As a result, you can keep in touch with the people you met and formed relationships with during your treatment program.
