Women’s Addiction Treatment

Having a substance abuse disorder can make it challenging to live a typical life. It can cause you to spend lavishly on a substance just to feed your habit, leaving you broke and penniless. Because addiction is a progressive condition, your symptoms continue to get worse. That’s why women’s addiction treatment programs exist to help educate and advocate for a life of sobriety.

When you live with a substance abuse disorder, your life can spiral out of control.

No matter if you are using drugs or alcohol, these substances can impair your judgment, lower your inhibitions and change your brain chemistry. Since addiction can impact your mood and behaviors, it can lead to damaged relationships, heightened conflict and instability.

What is Addiction?

Substance abuse disorders cause you to compulsively abuse a substance even though your drug use causes negative consequences. You can also have a strong and genuine desire to stop using when you develop an addiction, making it difficult to recover without help. At our Texas drug rehab, we have created addiction treatment programs that work to help women discover a full life without the need for dangerous substances.

Drugs and alcohol are either central nervous system depressants or stimulants. Common psychoactive substances that induce depressant effects include:

  • Alcohol
  • Benzodiazepines like Xanax, Ativan, and Klonopin
  • Opiates, including heroin, Vicodin, and OxyContin
  • Codeine

Depressants slow down your breathing, heart rate and blood pressure, which is why combining them with other depressants are so dangerous. Conversely, stimulants cause increased energy levels and cognition. Some commonly abused stimulants include:

  • Methamphetamine
  • Amphetamines
  • Ritalin
  • Cocaine and crack cocaine
  • Ecstasy and Molly

One significant side effect of stimulants is that they can cause you to stay awake for prolonged periods, leading to sleep deprivation and psychosis. Stimulant abuse can also lead to heart damage, as stimulants cause your heart rate to speed up.

Finding Hope In Addiction Treatment Programs

Addiction causes your brain’s pleasure and reward centers to alter by rewarding your drug use and punishing your abstinence. It can cause your brain chemistry to become dependent on the use of drugs or alcohol. When you decide to stop using, it’s essential to find support — that’s why our Texas drug rehab has created treatment models that work to help you manage triggers that may cause drug or alcohol cravings.

Your brain needs time to heal from addiction. Addiction treatment programs teach you how to deal with triggers, cravings and outside stressors. When you learn how to identify and cope with your triggers, you prepare yourself for the transition back into everyday life. While many triggers can be avoided, it’s impossible to avoid them all. When you are in the cycle of addiction, you use drugs and alcohol to cope with negative thoughts, feelings and actions. Our Texas drug rehab focuses on providing you with the skills and tools necessary to construct healthy coping strategies when these triggers arise.

We offer a variety of addiction treatment programs that can help women work through their addictive habits. Our inpatient programs require you to stay on-campus 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  The typical length of stay is around 28-days but can be extended if necessary. Our mixed-gender group sessions offer women and men a place to be vulnerable and supportive in their recovery. At the same time, our gender-specific living accommodations provide safe spaces for women to connect and create lasting friendships after treatment ends.
