Person with their therapist at an outpatient drug treatment sessionDo you want to transform your life but aren’t sure if you need residential addiction treatment? Even just taking that first step toward a sober life is critical to becoming whole and healthy again. You can change your life with the right type of addiction treatment. And at Promises Brazos Valley, we’re here to help. Even if life obligations keep you from attending a residential rehab that offers 24/7 care, our outpatient drug addiction treatment programs in College Station, TX, will get you to where you need to be with time and patience.

How to Tell if You Need to Enroll in Rehab

How can you know if you’re actually abusing or misusing drugs? Here are questions to consider:

  • Are you taking any illegal substances, such as heroin?
  • Are you taking someone else’s prescription medication?
  • Are you buying prescription medication from anyone?
  • Do you take your own medication incorrectly—either too much or in the wrong manner?
  • Do you take your own medication to get high or when you don’t really need it?
  • Do you turn to these substances every single day to function?

If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, then you’re misusing drugs or have developed an addiction. If the latter is true, you’ll also have withdrawal symptoms if you try to stop taking the drug. Even if you don’t try to stop taking it, you’ll notice some symptoms approximately six to 12 hours after the last time you took it.

Once you’re aware and admit you have a problem, it’s time to reach out. When you reach out to our admissions team, you’re making the promise to yourself to heal. By reaching out, you’re coming to terms with the fact that you have an addiction problem.

What to Know About Outpatient Drug Rehab

While inpatient rehab generally leads to better outcomes, outpatient addiction treatment can be necessary in some situations.1 Outpatient rehab may be best for your situation if:

  • You want to continue working or attending school while getting treatment
  • You have a strong support system at home
  • Your addiction isn’t severe, and you don’t need medical supervision for detox

Outpatient drug rehab may also be used as part of your aftercare plan following inpatient treatment. It provides continued support and accountability as you transition back into your everyday life.

What to Expect from Our Outpatient Drug Addiction Treatment in College Station, TX

At Promises Brazos Valley, we strive to provide as many unique treatment options as possible because we understand that a diverse population deserves diverse care. Our outpatient addiction treatment programs offer the structure and support you need to create a sober routine, transform your thoughts and behaviors, and establish a reliable support network.

Our outpatient addiction treatment programs require spending several hours per week in a structured, therapeutic setting. You can participate in client groups, family therapy groups, and individual therapy sessions. In addition, you’ll have support from licensed professionals who can educate you on how to maintain sobriety successfully.

Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHPs) or Day Programs

You’ll find the highest level of outpatient care in a partial hospitalization program. This program also requires the most significant time commitment. Clients enrolled in this form of treatment travel to their treatment facility at least five days a week. They devote several hours to treatment or supportive therapy during each visit.

Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOPs)

Intensive outpatient treatment has a lower time commitment than a PHP, requiring a few hours a day, a few days a week. IOPs work best for people fully committed to their treatment plan and health. This requires a strong support system and practical strategies to avoid relapse.

Virtual Intensive Outpatient Programs (VIOP)

Like intensive outpatient treatment, virtual intensive outpatient programs offer the same time commitment and program structure but allow clients to call in via a secure virtual video service.

Alumni Programs and Mutual Self-Help Groups

We want you to feel secure in your sobriety. That’s why every client who works through our programs qualifies for the Rooted Alumni program after they complete their treatment plan. This program offers clients weekly meetings, an app to stay connected with peers, and monthly or annual recovery events.

Self-help groups also allow people to learn from others who have sober living experiences. Some examples include Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and Narcotics Anonymous (NA). There are also 12-step alternatives such as SMART Recovery and Refuge Recovery.
